I am trying to decide between the two computers below. Any suggestions? We typically use our computers for online surfing, download movies then replay then to our led tv with hdmi, zero gaming, download pics, kids do homework. Seems like too much of a price difference.

The main difference is the cpu. Amds are typically more prone to overheating but are good if you need gpu power for a cheap price.

For your needs the amd will be enough unless you plan on doing heavy multi tasking. This will obviously depend on the exact model of the amd and intel cpu on how much of a difference you will get.

Thank you very much for getting back to me. I am going to post the rest of the specifications and am hoping you can take a look at the package and give me a comparison...

The screen is another big difference, the cheaper one is Display 15.6" Touch TL HD (1366 x 768), the i7 system is 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Truelife LED-Backlit Touch Display.

The i7 also has the newest AC wireless while the cheaper one is N.

Does it matter for what you will want to use it for? Probably not. If it was me, I'd spend the extra for the faster CPU, better screen and latest wireless. All that adds up to the $200 difference pretty well.

Thank you for the feedback...that is exactly what I was looking for as far as feedback. I know the $789 is the better machine but I just don't know if it is worth the $250 extra than for the inferior one. I do plan on keeping it around a long time, we bought two last time and they have lasted us quite a long time. In that sense, the more expensive one is a better choice but I just wasn't sure if it was that much better to cost. Its about a 33% price hike...

You can always look for a similar model with an i5 CPU and 1080 resolution, that should take at least $50 off the price and will still be fast. These days I would not get a laptop with a under 1080 screen that is a 15.6". For a 11 or 12, 13" system, maybe, for a large screen, you'd want 1080.

Thank you for the feedback. We went ahead and ordered the more expensive one. Makes more sense, since we do plan on keeping it around for quite some time...
