Hey community. Here’s my dillema. I have two laptops I am considering buying with virtually the same specs:

- Dell Inspiron 5577 for $813
- HP pavilion power 15 for $980

Both are from amazon (here are links):
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XFGF7SN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_YRwzAb87HJNE5
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075VT9LFC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_vSwzAbXND5R51

IN SHORT, I know that they have Identicle storage, screen size, and processor/gpu. What I don’t know is what justifies the 100+ extra price on the HP 15. The only difference I see is the very light weight (4 lb), an IPS display and double the RAM (16 GB)

I want to know if those 3 differences justify the extra price, and if it’s worth it going for the more expensive HP laptop. I’ve seen good reviews for each, but I don’t know which has better value.

An extra $167 will get you 16GBs of RAM, an IPS panel, and a slightly lighter chassis.

While 8GBs of RAM is still sufficient to run most games, the trend is clearly towards more RAM-intensive games. The IPS panel is a feature you'll enjoy every time you open the computer - unless it's meant to be a desktop replacement. For everyday use, an IPS panel is much more practical.

$167 is still a hefty add-on, but I'd recommend the HP in this case.
