Please help me

Hi. My HP probook 4510s is giving me a black screen but but the fan runs for about a 10 seconds then goes off completely. Please help

first reaction would be a) make sure the power supply is on a "turned on power strip" b) make sure the power cord to the power supply is fully inserted into the power supply, c) most power supply have a little LED on them and are green when power are in, and red if failed. did you check that, also when the power supply is connected do you see the little icon telling you your battery is charging ?
