Please help! New Laptop vs Old Laptop (Games)

Hello! I recently purchased a new laptop, which is a direct upgrade from my old laptop.

New laptop specs (as seen from the "Control Panel -> System and Security -> System):

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6200 CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.40 GHz

Installed RAM: 8.00 GB

System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Windows 10


Old laptop specs (as seen from the same directory I got the specs above):

Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3217U CPU @ 1.80GHz 1.80GHz

Installed RAM: 4.00 GB (3.87 usable)

System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Windows 10


So, I have been having problems with playing computer games on my new laptop, problems that occur only on my new laptop rather than my old laptop.

Both my laptops have the AMD-Radeon graphics card.

If I were to play a game with a lot of particles such as Counter Strike - Global Offensive my FPS (Frames per second) would drop whenever a smoke grenade would go off near me. This is only on my new laptop. My old laptop for some reason can handle this.

I've already unparked my CPU's but I haven't installed the latest drivers for my new laptop or even my old laptop as when I did that it would lower my game performance for some reason.

My question is: Why is my new (better than old) laptop not able to handle things that my old laptop could handle.

You need to post what graphics cards they have... Im assuming your old laptop had an actual graphics card and now your using onboard, that or just a driver issue, either way we need to know which AMD card it has

That is my driver, you see how I opened the bar at the bottom? Does that mean I have 2 graphics cards? Maybe the issue is I'm using one over the other? How would I fix that? I would like to use Radeon as it is better.

Is it possible that I'm using one graphics card over the other? Could that be my problem? If so is Radeon the stronger graphics card? If so, can you tell me how I can enable the Radeon graphics card over the Intel one?

go to the panel of radeon crimson and select to use the graphics card radeon for your games.

or go to your bios and disable integrated vga intel.

How did you know I have Radeon Crimson? Also, can you show me how I would go to Radeon Control Panel and select it for my games?

Depending on the laptop, it might be as simple and switching onboard graphics off in bios, or you might have to pick which games use which card, either way the radeon card is much stronger and i bet u were using the wrong card !

The R5 M330 is an entry level graphics card.
What is the graphics card for the old laptop?
Anyway you can right click anywhere on your desktop
There should be an option where it says "Configure Switchable Graphics".
Click on that and it should open a window.
There you can set either Power Saving or High Performance for application or games to use integrated or dedicated graphics.
