Plugging speakers for receiver

Hey guys I was wondering if you can
Plug a centre speaker into your receiver while you already have two bookshelf speakers going, would affect the sound at all? The receiver is a sherwood RV 5050r cheers

If your connect a center speaker to the center channel speaker terminals of the receiver and set the receiver to 3.0 operation any mono information will come from the center. That is usually vocals for music and dialogue for movies. If may be better or worse sounding on how good the center speaker is, how well it matches the sound of the left and right speakers, and how far apart the speakers are from each other. Give it a try.
