Guys do you remember a while back when I asked if there was any program that
could emulate a mouse feature; kinda like a cursor which follow the pointer;
I don't quite remember the idea I had behind that; but it must have been a
year so.
I remember it was just one person on the message board who see what I was
trying to explain. I am still surprise that no such thing exist yet.

Anyways it seems that someone was listening....I just can't wait for the new
hp pocketpc (the hx4700 ) with the mouse pad or so.
I think that would be an awesome feature. I believe it is a move in the
right direction, although it reminds me of the palms; however I am sure that
hp put it to better use here. I like it when they blow others out of water.
Other put up a great competition (like the e805) but this ought to put a
dent in the competition. It was a good thing have Toshiba close by for
competition else it would have taken longer to achieve this. Now we have to
sit back and learn what they have to offer.

So people here comes mouse for pocket pc, I am sure it will enhance the
feature. Especial in programs which require a lot of mouse movements on the
desktop like Photoshop. Photogenics could use this feature I think. But
we'll see it's a little to early to tell.

Steve

ps. When the time come what would be the best way to trade up? does anyone
know? thanks

I wouldn't get my hopes up for a 1.2" touchpad at the bottom
of the hx4700, it looks too small to be of much use and it
will surely be less accurate than the touchscreen.

Let me explain. Lets say you where drawing a circle and stopped.
Under the regular cercumstance it would be hard to pickup from where you
left off. It's hard to pin point the last point you drew. Now with the
mouse pad, I think one might be able to continue from where they left or at
least get close enough with out mistakes....?

Hey it's just an option; you don't have to use it, one could still use the
screen.
But more option is always a good thing...

I really don't think the new hx4700 will natively display any kind
of pointer cursor on screen. the display area is just too small to
have something moveable obscure part of it while working in a program.
And if they did decide to give it mouse-like functionality, they
would do better to utilize the touchscreen instead of the touchpad
because it is bigger.
I think it to be more likely that the touchpad is meant for writing
instead of being used to steer a pointer across the screen.

Just another piece of plastic membrane to wear out quicker than
the casing on the device. ;)

Think Outside is working on a real mouse for Pocket PC. Actually the
implementation of a HID driver, tied to their driver for the Bluetooth
keyboard. I've used a beta version and it is really nice. In my case I had
the driver and connected my Bluetake Bluetooth mouse to my iPAQ h4150. Check

Well what do you know. I was wrong; Look here:
http://hpshopping.speedera.net/www.shopping.hp.com/shopping/data_sheet/fa3
04a.html

(mind word wrap)

It appears there is in fact a mouse-like cursor on screen that
is driven by the touchpad on this model.
