Power light flashes and I have a black screen

Hello, I have acquired a Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop for free and trying to fix it. When I power it on, the power button flashes and the screen is black. Just like it will not come out of hibernation mode. I put a disc in the drive and I can hear the fans and everything come on. I get the same problem with battery or AC adapter. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you find an answer to this? I have the same issue and am currently troubleshooting. A quick answer would be appreciated, but if I find the solution, I will post it here.

Ok, got mine working. For me, I had a bad memory bank. Not the module itself, but the slot it connects into. I only had one stick of RAM anyway so I swapped it into the other bank and all works fine.
