Power switch issue

HI

I have a HP 15g094sa and I recently repaired screen hinges.

While doing so I accidentally damaged the power switch ribbon cable so it wouldn't power on.

Upon buying a new switch and fitting the laptop still won't work.

When the ribbon cable is connected the laptop switches off.

When it's unplugged after I manage to get it to start by touching pins the laptop stays on. It seems like a short or grounding issue but cant see anything out of place.

that connector should have small plastic which tightens connections, if its broken, u can use non conductive glue, just make sure its connected as it should

Hi

It's not the fastner which tightens. This is working fine.

The issue is the laptop is shorting out when the fastner is down and secure, once the laptop boots providing this cable is removed it stays on.

No issue with cable either as it's a brand new part.

I may have to take it somewhere with a multimeter etc but Im hoping someone else had this issue.
