@Bunz_of_Steel

A lot of Arabs are white, do your research, not western, but fair skin, blue/green eyes and straight hair

I tried to do a search for what a Persian was supposed to look like, but I got "Persian Models", and still don't know if a Persian dude would look like Jake Gyllenhaal...

It looks like another action packed movie with AWESOME special affects with most likely a medicore story line since that all Hollywood has been doing mostly.
Im really disappointed in the WHITE BLUE EYE's American to play as a freaking Persian.Fuck at least they could have got an actor that was Persian.

@Cory
I guess I'll stop joking around. OK, Cory, if you did a search for "Arab Models" and then did a search for "Persian models", you'll notice that they don't look the same. That's because Persians, are largely of Arian decent... as in, you know, white people.

Thank you Cory. The mix up is because Iran is neighboring Arab countries on the west. Although both cultures are respectful, the are 2 different things.

I have yet to see a good movie based on a video game, so I have low expectations for this film. Plus, Sands of Time was so cinematic in and of itself that I really don't see the point of turning it into a film. You could say that about a lot of modern games, really, what with all the epic cutscenes they have these days.

If I were the producer, I'd take the storyline from the original 2-D game's sequel (since the first game's story is rather bland) and throw in a ton of martial arts with some special effects. As long as the script is well-written, there'd be no problems. Of course, PoP was all about the puzzles, so there'd have to be a few of those as well.

Um, technically, Persians are white. They're Aryan--some of the first Aryan's, actually. So having a white guy do the acting isn't far off. If you're going to get regional about it, then yes, hiring an actor with more Prussian features probably wasn't the best move from an "authenticity" standpoint.

If none of this makes sense to you, think of the choice of the actor as an homage to all of those British films starring British actors about Arabia.

My name's not Cory =(
lol

"Why would the prince of Persia be white? There are plenty of good actors with arab blood that could have credibly filled the role..."

Persians aren't Arab. Persians are Indo-European Caucasians. The only problem with Jake G. as the actor is he is Swedish. Why did they pick a Swede to portray a Persian?

when I think manly, I think....YOUR MOM

[citation][nom]10tacle[/nom]Ah, Pirates Of The Caribbean meets The Mummy! Seriously though, anything with Bruckheimer behind it can't be too bad. I also like the hottie held over from The Mummy. Ooof. In any event, the current fad of making movies from video games is one of those things you either love or hate. I'm of the former, as my DVD/BD collection shows. Okay can we get a Half Life movie next, PLEASE?[/citation

I don't think a half life movie "could" be any good just because the expectations would be sooo high

do your own research Arabs, Persian you miss the point meewog! They should have at least had enough respect to portray a Persian/Arabian or whateva correctly. I still Denzel or Jamie would have made a closer representation of an Persian or Arabian prince better than this... whatever he is. sanctoon you said lots of Arabs are white, fair skin and blah blah blah.... Yeh so? Put them in this movie then!

Half-life Starring

Robert Downey Jr. as Gordon Freeman
Shannyn Sossamon as Alyx Vance
Morgan Freedman as Eli Vance
Bruce Campbell as Barney
Christopher Walken as The G Man

Now that would be AWESOME!

Denzel Washington is African American, whats the connection with him and Prince of Persia? I don't get it, are you implying that Persians have the same skin colour as Africans do?

:)) this gets better and better

would you please, post a picture of a black Persian?! as a Persian myself, it is interesting for me to see picture of a black skin Persian!

you know, you dont have to be right about everything. it's not a big deal but maybe you should admit that you are wrong! cause as a Persian, i know what i am, and im sure, after reading your comments, you dont know me and my people! this movie is about a Persian prince, i cant see the point in changing a western actor with an Arab or black actor!

i can give you an example! imagine if they build a movie about Dr. King, with a Persian actor (of course he will be white!) playing his role! that's exactly what you are saying. My point is if you want to fix anything, fix it in the right way rather than make same mistake again.

Collin Farrell was not Greek or Macedonian and he played Alexander's role. Or that guy who played Xerxes the Great in that stupid movie, 300 ! he was not Persian and he didn't look like king Xerxes or a Persian even 1% ! it is Hollywood, we cant do anything about it!

my own opinion is it's ok for an American movie about eastern world to have American/western actors, and i cant see what is wrong with that?!

btw we can't change Hollywood by posting comments on Tom's guide! i just wanted to at least teach you this: Persians and Arabs are two completely different races with different cultures and history.

Very well said 😀 I'm Iranian and the last time I looked in the mirror I looked nothing like Denzel Washington or an Arab as a matter of fact!
Dorood 😉
