Problem connecting Samsung home theatre and LG smart tv

I have an LG smart tv 4K UHD and a samsung home theatre 5.1 (no Bluetooth). Both have hdmi arc. But I'm unable to connect them while watching tv from my receiver cable tv or at any other time. I'm not able to use the other hdmi port and the hdmi arc connection at the same time. In fact i need help in using the home theatre while using Netflix etc on tv. Please do help. Thanks in advance.

ARC has to be turned on in the TV menu to work. You did that?
You could try using the optical audio out of the TV instead which will free up the HDMI input.
Check the TV manual on how to use the optical output.

I did use arc and optical cables but LG claims because mty samsung home theatre has a dvd/cd player in the reciever it will not work

willde302, I know this post is late but were you ever able to solve this? I am currently trying to connect a Samsung HT-F5500W to a new LG 4k tv using ARC and I cannot seem to get audio out.

I can control the volume but no audio.
