PROBLEM = file C NTFS check file for consistency

finally got laptop working. ac power bad. worked for a while. Then Message " File C NTFS Label TI102782WOE CHECK FILE FOR CONSISTENCY.
Now screen black & condition unknown

Update : connected to external monitor, same message, Locked-up, can't get past this,wont play any disc.
please help
it was fine yesterday, so downloaded AVG for protection, ran test, no problems, no virus

*four hrs later, using ext. monitor, I happened to see "to set-up press F2", then it went to its message "File C NTFS label TI.... so i started pressing F2, F2, F2, finally it started doing its disc.chek program . . . its screen goes black, but Now it lites up occaisionally . . .
And now it seems to function 'normaly' . . .Hallelulia Praise God !
