Problem with dell 1520

Ive just replaced a motherboard on a dell 1520 it posts ok on bios, i can boot to hirens menu and ran tests on the mobo and memory all looks good.

but when i try to boot to windows it restarts before the splash screen appears and it just black screens when i try to install a new os. iv replaced the memory and tried various windows installs and the installs fail to boot.

I got it, it was the hdd i replaced it and its going now.

strange as i tested it in dos and it looked ok.
