Hello, dear community,

I have a problem with my monitor. Here's the story:

I left my computer on overnight (like I do many times) and went to sleep. When I woke up, the power went off so the computer shut down, and when I came home after 11 hours and turned the computer on, I noticed a weird bug on my screen. The edges of the screen were cut off and there was no way to fix it! (I tried moving the screen position, restarting the computer, reinstalling the graphics driver, unplugging the monitor cables).

Also, when I take a screenshot and look at the picture, the picture shows the whole screen normally, like there is no cut off edge.

It also looks like the screen got enlarged somehow. The upper side is bigger than before and I cannot make the lower and upper side fit into the screen anymore, while the left and right side fit, but the right side has a black area which hides a little part of the screen (a wide vertical line). I also noticed that the black area disappears from the right side and appears on the left side when I changed (reduced) the resolution.

Thanks in advance!

My monitor is a LG W2240. I tried using the monitor controls and had some success. I managed to fix the upper side, too. Now the only problem is the right side. First i used auto-adjust and i got this result: http://i.imgur.com/5RhQdZp.jpg You can see that the right side is cut off (The screenshot was actually showing a normal screen without cut-off edges but i edited it so you can see what's bothering me), and then i used the option to get back to fabric settings and got this: http://i.imgur.com/PhUnG57.jpg . You can see that the screen ratio is normal but the right side is black.

I managed to fix the problem, I've set the nVidia control panel options back to default so the screen position changed a bit and then i turned the monitor options back to fabric settings and everything is working well! Thank you for your patience and contribution, till next time! :)

I have a benq monitor and i had the same problem. I went into my settings by pressing one of the side buttons and pressing menu > Display > Auto Adjustment.

I'm having this same problem with a Radeon HD 7970 and HP 2159m monitor. I have tried going through all the Radeon settings as well as monitor settings, factory defaulting both, and reverting a recent Windows update that seemed to go along with the problem. The only "fix" I've found is moving the HDMI Scaling slider over a bit so it shows the entire screen, although this just makes everything blurry. http://i.imgur.com/rruEC1C.png
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is very frusturating.
