Greetings,

Around three years ago I bought a laptop for the sole purpose of gaming on it. A bad choice, I know, but then I knew completely nothing on the subject and now I feel ripped off. Anyway, I have pushed the limits of my laptop quite a lot, and I feel bad for having done so. Over the years, I faced a number of problems with my card.

This time, I am afraid I will not be able to fix it. I remember some time ago, that my NVIDIA control panel worked fine. However, that is not the case now. I will now proceed to list what information I have with the hope that one of you can help me;

- My computer currently (and I do not know for how long) uses the on-motherboard card, an Intel
HD Graphics 4000
- In Device Manager, under "Display Adapters" is shown with a little yellow triangle on the bottom
right corner of the icon
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers (which I got from the laptop's manufacturer's site) or
even upgrading/downgrading removes the yellow triangle, until my next startup. Τhen the
problem reappears
- Even if I have done the previous steps, attempting to open the Control Panel prompts: "NVIDIA
Display settings are not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA
GPU."
- There is no NVIDIA Control Panel option in desktop right-click

These are my laptop's specs:

NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M (plus the previously mention Intel HD Graphics 4000)
Intel Core 3210-M 2.50 GHz
Windows 8.1 64-bit

Lastly, I would like to note that I have little experience on the subject and I have knowledge of only the basics.
I appreciate any help you can give me.

Thank you in advance.

You should uninstall any previous Nvidia drivers, and start fresh. I presume you've already tried this to no avail, but there are tools for this to work, namely DDU. Please follow this guide (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2767677/clean-graphics-driver-install-windows.html) to use DDU to clean any old drivers. Then go to the Nvidia drivers page (http://www.geforce.com/drivers) and download the appropriate driver for your GT 640M. Install, reboot, and then come back here to let us know whether the proble is solved.

Hello, although I have tried DDU before, I will attempt this once more and come back to tell you the results. Thank you.

So I am back after a clean install. I am afraid, however, that it had no effect. The "Code 43" error continues to appear in Device Manage (sorry, I forgot to mention this one before) and the NVIDIA Control Panel will not open.
