Hello everyone.

I have a friend that asked me to help him fix his laptop so that he can play some games on it.

As much as I tried, I found no way to install his graphics card. I tried installing all the Windows updates, I tried installing it with the suggested Windows update, I tried reinstalling his Windows and then repeating the first two, I tried with the drivers given by the laptop manufacture's website, I tried with the drivers given by the grqphic card's brand (AMD).

His laptop is a Hp Pavilion G6 1202 sq. His graphics card is an AMD Radeon 6470M.

Until a month ago he had no issues with it. A month ago he decided to reinstall Windows because he felt that his laptop was sluggish (viruses, etc). After reinstalling his Windows he started having the above problem.

The laptop doesn't seem damaged, I could smell no burning, and Windows when searching for updates does suggest a driver for the AMD graphics card.

When trying to install the Windows updatr, I get an error with the error code 80070703 (or something of the sort). Windows help says that this code appears when you try to install drivers that don't match your hardware or when they're older than what you already have. Installing from AMD, the installation is succesful but instead of the green bubble I get a yellow one. I click for details to see the issue and it tells me that everything is installed successfully. Exact same thing happens when I get the drivers from HP.

His sticker are peeled off so I was uncertain whether he has an AMD or Nvidia GPU (this model can ship with one of the two) so I tried all of the above for Nvidia also. Same results; but given the fact that Windows suggests AMD drivers, I stuck with that in the end.

Please help me brothers 🙁!

Uninstall the AMD drivers. After it reboots, reboot the laptop again. Then install the AMD drivers downloaded from AMD website. It should work fine then. Don't install other drivers via Windows updates.

Try to reproduce this:
"Installing from AMD, the installation is successful but instead of the green bubble I get a yellow one."
Then uninstall the AMD drivers. After it reboots, reboot the laptop again. Then install the AMD drivers downloaded from AMD website.

I thibk we're not on the same page xD. It says that it installed but nothing gets installed. There are no AMD folders anywhere. Catalyst Control Cebter doesn't exist and there's nothing related to AMD in the registry/ device manager/ control panel installed programs.

@orlbuckeye: Please read my post more carfully: I already did this and it didn't work. I'm getting the same yellow bubble as I do when installing the drive from AMD.com.

Intel drivers were installed automatically by Windows (I can see in HD family in dxdiag). There are no other models out there that have that CPU from the hp pavilion g6 series.
