Problems retrieving old pictures from messenger on a dell laptop computer

I was on messenger yesterday and someone sent me some pictures. To view them, I had to download them. I went into messenger today to look at them, and I could not find any of the files or jpg links. They are not in any of my picture files. Where could they have gone. I am on a dell laptop using chrome that I was not signed into.

What kind of messenger application you're using? Ask your friend (or someone else) to send you another picture, and note where it's downloaded.

Depending on the messenger, it might also have it's own 'downloaded files' folder in My Documents or in the Program Files itself. Are you referring to FB Messenger or ??
