Problems with Audio Realtek Windows 7

My PC recognizes the headphones that i plugged in and when tested, the system shows sound bar spikes but there is no sound coming out from the plugged headphones. Can someone help me with this?

Is there no sound at all, or is it super duper quiet?
If the latter, it's probably set to 'digital out', instead of analog.
What's worse is that Realtek tends to hide settings they think you're not using.

So, what you need to do is check first. See if it's set to digital out or analog.
If digital, then look for the analog setting. If you can't find it, then just leave your headphones plugged in, and uninstall the realtek driver. Restart your computer and reinstall the driver. It should automatically detect your headphones and switch to analog.

Let us know if it insists on remaining digital - or if you check the settings and it's already analog.

Edit: one other thing I think you might want to check. If the plug is not seated properly, it might cause this. Make sure the plug is fully seated in the jack. If your headphones is anything like mine, you need to check both ends of the audio cable.

Any chance you got this working? I have the same symptoms on my Win7 laptop. I can guarantee the headphone jack works perfectly when running in Ubuntu. The only fix I know that works so far is to reset to a factory settings image (did this once before), but the issue popped up again and I'm too lazy to restore it again....

jdlech2's suggestions were a dead end for me.
