Hello, i am here to find a solution to a particular need, it is a long read but satisfyingly detailed, mind you.

i want to make my "HTPC" to receive an "IR signal" from the tv remote's unused button ("teletext page" button or any other button that does not operate in "HDMI input" mode) and bind that signal that comes off the tv remote, to a keyboard input like the "ctrl+alt+shirt+p" key.

The real thing i am trying to accomplish is:
I have a "HDMI video capture box" that has a tiny "remote", when i press the "rec" button on the remote of that device, the hdmi capture box starts recording but i want my pc to start recording the line-in port at the exact time the other device starts recording.

Currently, i bought a "usb ir receiver" that comes with a cheap "remote" but that usb receiver receives only from the remote that it came with.

What i need is a usb receiver that can read any kind of "ir signal code" and a software that binds that code to an action like a keyboard press.

Thanks for the spared time.

ps:please do not suggest me to buy a universal remote and create macros... this i already done it works to some extend.
