Projector acting as second monitor rather than projecting main monitor PLEASE HELP

Hey everyone, recently I helped a friend setup a new projector but we are having a slight issue, basically the projector is acting as a second monitor rather than just projecting the first one. Is there a way of disabling the projector from being a second monitor and making it just project the main monitor? If i was to disable it on something like display settings the projector would just turn off rather than projecting the first one. PLEASE HELP!

Go in to display properties and set the projector to mirror what is displayed on the main monitor.

You can also press Windows logo key+P. Then choose duplicate.
