Projector and sound bar don’t speak the same language

I just purchased an Epson projector that only has a 3.5 mm audio output. The Sonos sound bar that I also purchased only has a optical input. Is my only option to purchase a receiver to have them match up?

Run video from the video source to the projector.
Run audio from the video source to the soundbar.

If that doesn't help then please provide some details, such as model numbers of the components.

If you have more than one source or HDMI output only sources (like a streaming stick) you will find an HDMI input selector with audio extraction useful. It will give you an optical audio output for all your HDMI sources as well as selecting the source for both the projector and soundbar with one remote.
