I am replacing an Epson projector with new Optoma 1080 projector. I want the option to watch tv using the tv and not the projector. I currently have this arrangement with cable box hdmi connected to tv, and component video cords to projector. I also have hdmi from xbox to projector for movies. The new projector only has 2 hdmi ports. The cable box has 1 hdmi so no way to cennect to tv and projector. Is there a way to accomplish this with what I have to work with?

I suggest you get an HDMI input selector with 2 outputs. Some will allow you to use different sources on each display. These are called matrix type selectors. This way you don't sacrifice picture quality on the projector.

You could also use an HDMI distribution amp to split the HDMI output of the cable box.

Thank you so much for the reply. I didnt know you could watch tv with xbox. I connected cable box to xbox with hdmi, then hdmi cable to projector. The xbox takes care of all projector needs. Also used the component cables to connect cable box to tv. 720p to tv, but works great for my son who games on a 110" screen while watching Wild hockey on tv :)
