Putting laptop to sleep while it's hot

Sometimes after gaming I don't have enough time to wait for my laptop to cool down before putting it to sleep and have to shut it right away. When the laptop goes into sleep mode, the fans stop completely after a few seconds. I don't play any games that are too terribly intensive but they do heat the computer up enough to kick the fans up a notch or two. Could the heat left in the laptop damage the computer once it goes into sleep mode and the usage on the CPU and video card drops completely? I'm using a Lenovo y510p playing Guild Wars 2 if that helps.
