Question regarding Home Theater

My cousin recently received from his friend an old home theater Sony HCD-FR1 however he wants to connect it to his laptop and we don't know how.

If its just for the audio then have him look into buying an external DAC to convert USB to the standard 3.5mm line outs.

which laptop model is it? Usually there is an AUX/LINE OUT, then you could use this cable:
