I just bought an MSI gaming laptop i7 6870 nvidia 1070 16g ram 1tb ssd. Whenever I am playing any game that is remotely graphics intensive it freezes my screen and won't allow me to alt tab or use the task manager after I open it up. It is not uniform either. It randomly crashes. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes sometimes it takes 30 minutes. I just bought my laptop yesterday so I know it is impossible for it to be any virus or other conflicting software issue. I also used DDU and reinstalled the most up to date driver and nothing changed. I also used msi afterburner and the graphics card and the cpu are normal temps for the crashes. Also if it helps for XCOM 2 it always freezes with a black screen when it loads a new sect of the game, e.g starting a mission or something and I can still here the sound but it will never unfreeze.

" I just bought my laptop yesterday so I know it is impossible for it to be any virus or other conflicting software issue" it possible if you download stuff from the internet, and if not software, might be hardware
Since it is new, contact MSI or return it

The very first thing I did is install steam and played a variety of intensive games. It does look like I will need to send it back though :<.

I am having a nearly identical issue on a brand new Alienware w/ gtx 1080. Games with intense graphics crash within the first couple minutes of play. Did you ever find a fix or get a solution to this issue?
