Solved! Re-celling laptop battery

Hi all,

Recently bought used laptop Asus N751JK without a battery, decided to buy one cheaply from Chinese seller. Battery lasts about 1h, not enough for me, so I want to replace cells with Samsung E35 3450 mAh.
Actually after buying cells I read it is not enough just to replace cells and I need to reprogram PCB inside battery.

1. I thought, maybe this cheap Chinese battery does not require reprogramming?
2. If yes, does anyone has knowledge how to do that ?
3. Is there a chance I can "brick" the battery and it will not work even if I put back old cells?

Solution
Depends on what the chip on the battery actually does. If it is simply a battery ID and protection chip, then you don't have to do anything about it, all that leaving the old data in the chip does is mess up your laptop's battery life estimation until your laptop has had enough charge-discharge cycles to re-calibrate.

So you are putting in a lot of time and effort to sva a little bit of money making a sketchy battery that can easily kill your laptop.

Just buy a good battery and call it quits.

It is fun for me to mess with electronics, I love repairing and upgrading stuff myself.

Hi guys,
Waking up this thread and asking for your help. I`m trying to build custom battery for my laptop, using resetted battery board from other laptop and Samsung 3450mAh batteries.
If someone has a healthy laptop battery with 11.1 volts this one is for you:
Can you discharge your battery until your laptop turns off, measure voltage of the battery with multi meter and write it down here? Would be grateful.
