Really dumb question about audio.

Hi, so I realized on pretty much every single motherboard (like this one: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-z97e) there are around 5-6 audio input/outputs? On my headphones there is obviously just 1 wire (they are bose). Do I need an audio card or some special converter to use my headphones/speakers? Thanks, sorry for the really dumb noob question!

No, you just need to plug them into the green port. Green is for the front 2 channels.

Nope, that's if you have a surround speaker setup so there is outputs for all the different channels in a surround setup.
