Rear Projection TVs still good?

Hello there
Today, I was browsing Kijiji (a.k.a. the Craigslist of Canada) looking for some TVs. I saw that people were selling 50 to 60 inch TVs for as low as $80. They're called Rear Projection TVs. I looked it up on Google. Apparently, it is an old technology which requires some maintenance. I can maintain PCs but I'm a total ignoramus when it comes to TVs. Are RPTVs still good? is $80-$100 good prices for them?

Projectors always look really bad unless all the lights are off. It's like a projection screen in school, and I bet a projector is not included.

I see RPTVs on craigslist for free all the time. Any RPTV i've seen has dismal quality. If your thinking about projection, just get a 100$ projector.
