Rebooting laptop

Can anyone help,my acer travelmate 2310 laptop won't load,it gets as far as the windows xp loading screen then turns off and then turns itself back on and this process keeps on repeating,can this be fixed and will I be aale to do it or will it have to ae taken to a repair shop.

Try a bootable CD/DVD and see if you have the same problem.
Ubuntu Desktop shows you how to make a bootable CD with a complete operating system on the CD. This bypasses your HDD and WindowsXP.
Use "Try Ubuntu" option instead of install.

If Ubuntu runs OK you can probably figure it's the hard disk having a problem or some issue with the WindowsXP installation being corrupted.

You might be able to browse your hard disk and recover any important data or personal files.
