Lastly, Resco Explorer includes a registry editor. Resco is an excellent program for a lot of
reasons and has a lot of functionality...

Brett,

I have used PHM's Registry Editor on both PPC and HPC and have found it to
be an excellent application. You can get information on it here:
http/www.phm.lu/products/PocketPC/RegEdit/

An editor is an editor is an editor. They all basically do the same thing
but like your desktop PC, poking around in the registry on your PPC is at
your own risk. Just be sure you follow the golden rule: HAVE A BACKUP! :-D

Well, all registry editors let you edit the same thing- the registry.
That is why they are called registry editors. There may be differences
in the interfaces, but essentially that is all they do. I don't think
there is a wide choice, which ones are you considering?

suggest a google for POCKETPC REGISTRY EDITOR, then click the "did you
mean..." to extend the search.

I have been using the Tascal editor for five years and like it but there
are other editors around, some with excellent reviews.

There are also several Tweak utilities that manage specific items in the
registry fo those who do not want to take the risks of editing the
registry directly.

The ppc registry is essentially the same concept and structure as the
windows registry although the keys may address very different issues.

I would suggest the regedit program from www.phm.lu

Free, does the job and works exactly like the Windows XP one.

If you are not comfortable editing the registry, suggest going for one
or more of the tweaks programs... you can always uninstall them.

The tweaks have the advantage of (normally) not generating os problems
although changing the font size will create problems, plus, they tend to
address common user needs, both basic and advanced.

I use PocketTweaks from http/tillanosoft.com but there are several
other good tools around.

If you 'play around' you can stop things working whatever you use. Make
sure you back up.

Don't mess just because you can, decide if there is something you
need/want to do, then search for something to specifically do that.
Other than that consider looking at RegKing. It's not as dangerous as
manually editing the registry.
