Remove Password for External Hard

Hi all I have Bufallo External Hard (500 GB) i created a Password on the External Hard but now I forgot my password
is any software for reset or remove the password for External Hard Drives? or Can anyone help me?
Be Adviced that I Need My Data on the External Hard and I do not want to format it

What did you use to create the password? If you encrypted it, and did not make a recovery disk, you may as well format it.
