Replacing Laptop for future software development/ DJing

Hopefully i will be attending college for computer systems courses, specifically software development in about a year from now but i'm looking to replace my current gaming laptop now. Would like a laptop that would suite development needs. But i also like to DJ/ play with Ableton for fun on my current laptop. What specs should i be prioritizing? Any lappys out there that can serve both these purposes? Willing to spend 1200$ ish but i can also be reasoned to spend more if needed
