Restricted ad Unavailable calls

Yesterday I received 2 calls that came up unavailable and when I answered
the person hung up. I was wondering why dose Verizon not have a feature on
cell lines ( Just like on land lines) that when some one calls you that has
a private number or have a caller ID blocked on there phone they should
have to dial *82 then you cell number. If the person that have a private
number or caller ID blocked on there phone and they dial your number with
out dialing * 82 the call will not go through until * 82 is dialed. I have
that feature set up on my land line. Since every one now has at least 1 cell
phone and some people that have cell phones have done away with there land
line. So cell phones should have some or most features that land lines have.

Indeed. I`d like to see the same. Also, it would be nice to have some kind of
"call reject" option for blocking calls from people you wish to avoid. Would
that be a Verizon option or would that be an option of a partictular phone? I`m
currently using a new Samsung a670.
Anyone else?

It should be a Verizon option. Not a cell phone option. Just like Verizon
have a caller ID blocking feature you can add to you account no matter what
cell phone you have.

When it comes up unavailable or restricted or with a number that I do
not recognize, I just don't answer. They can have a go at my voice mail
if they want.

That is exactly what I do. I have a really short & quiet ringtone set
for both unavailable or restricted and don't answer. The caller can then
leave a message if they choose.

Sometimes the law of unintended consequences applies when you have call
blocking. My cell number is blocked on outgoing so I just preface with
*82 as required. My friend lives in an area with really poor cell
coverage. They have call blocking on their house phone. He recently
called me about an important issue. I happened to be in an area that is
extended network. I got the information he needed and when I tried to
call back the cell system would produce an error because that system
couldn't understand *82. If I called without *82 I got the "the caller
is not accepting calls..." message.

This may come as a big surprise-- but cellular is a whole differernt
technology. If you want all your landline features, attach a wire on a very
big spool to your cell phone;-)

No it's not. I dial a phone number and I talk to someone.
For services/features I'd say that cellular is a superset
of landline (except for geographical call location identification).

This may come as a surprise to you, Cleburne, but cellular phones are a more advanced technology than land lines. They do have the technology to block restricted calls. They are in bed with corporations, who want to reach people via phone and CHOOSE not to provide the technoloy to customers.
