Solved! S/PDIF Output question

Hey all,

Let's say I want to connect my sound card to an external DAC/Amp and I connect it via optical fiber.

I currently have 2 such sound 'cards', one is onboard ALC1152 and the other is a Xonar DG.

Just wanted to check, if I connect the external DAC to Xonar DG, would the 'origin' sound be controlled by Xonar's drivers? As in if I enable virtual surround, Dolby or do mixing to my sound, I do it via Xonar's on software?

Just wanted to check if DAC/Amp are a standalone device that can do sound mixing, or if Xonar itself is doing the mixing and the external DAC is merely just converting the end result.

the xonar will only be used if your sound card use the Dolby/DTS encoding
