S video out from dish 6000 won't work with a 5040 ?

I read a little bit about having to change from input 1 to 2,then telling
the replay to use the S video on input 2,and setting the input 1 to
nothing,but I still don't get video ?????
the guy I spoke with at replay said some receivers just won't work with the
replays S in on input 1 ?

that really bites.

on another note....
the other problem I had with the Ethernet communication and my linksys
router seems to have went away for a few hours now though !

There is NO s-video on input 1, so what would this be about?

Also, check the SETUP menu again. Is it still set right? I've made
that mistake before, exiting the menu instead of selecting "keep all
settings".

Even after resetting the router? You have to hold the reset buffon in
for several seconds.

Thinking of "ethernet communication problem" reminds me of the DHCP
problems people have been talking about a lot lately.

BTW, my router is a Linksys.

I made that mistake the 1st time around....but I've tried several times now
doing it the correct way of saving before I exit and still no video off the
S video on input 2 ?

So, you're sure:

1. In SETUP, Input 2 is set to your device (specifying S-video).

2. In SETUP, Input 1 is NOT set to your device (Replay won't accept
duplicate devices).

3. Your device is actually connected to the S-video input (you didn't
make the mistake of connection it to the S-video OUTPUT instead).

4. The device is turned on (Replay won't do this for you, LEAVE IT
ON).

Have you acquired a new guide from the network since you changed the
input?

How are you selecting these channels? From the guide?

Check the guide and try entering the channel number manually. It may
have changed when you changed inputs.

Make sure the S-video cable is still connected securely (these fall
out VERY easily, the reason I changed back to composite).

Reboot the Replay (sorry if you've already tried that a dozen times).

I must have missed a step somewhere....cause the S input now seems to be
working ?
I didn't even reboot the replay ?,I really did have it all hooked up
correctly cause I checked it so many times ???,but it's working now !

but there is definitely a problem with the Ethernet connection
though....whenever I try to log onto the net.....I have to unplug both modem
and router {reset}otherwise I can't get in.

does the replay use the same exact IP address as my computer's ..?
...cause it's the same.

Some problems are like that, they go away mysteriously. Hope it
doesn't come back.

No. They must be different, and on the same subnet (in most cases,
that means the first 3 of 4 numbers are the same). Example
192.168.1.10 and 192.168.1.11 (note that the 3rd number may be 0 on
both, the 4th number must be different).

How are you assigning IP addresses? If it's the DHCP on your router,
it's messed up (that can happen when you reboot, although it
shouldn't). Reboot both the computer and the Replay (not the router)
and see if that fixes it.

If your Replay is using a static address, that can be a problem too.
