Could be the brand compatibility...I have an older Samsung Galaxy Tab A. I bought it from one of the home shopping networks. They shipped it along with a Lexar microSDHC card.

It's never be able to read any of the SD cards I've tried. (Never!)  That is, not until last week when I decided to order a ****(SAMSUNG!) SD card.**** It worked as soon as I plugged it in the slot.
(I got the Samsung EVO microSDHC*UHS-1 Card but perhaps any Samsung would have worked.)    Hey, so much for compatibility.
