Samsung IS basically screwing existing Galaxy S owners with the Lack of 2.3 on them, BUT the MOST screwed are Captivate owners.. ALl EU carriers with the Galaxy S GT-i9000 have 2.2.1 now, T-Mobile has 2.2, Bell/Telus in Canada has 2.2, and the top 2 US carriers, Verizon (fascinate) and AT&T with the Captivate, are still on 2.1 with broken GPS. I've long since fixed mine by using stuff at XDA Developers to get the EU 2.2.1 on it. So Samsung HAS the software for at LEAST the captivate.
I'd not buy another samsung myself for this very fact, but I am at the core of the issue torn, as I wonder if it is Samsung or the carrier that is the hold up in the case of the Captivate.. In either case, Samsung is the manufacturer so I suppose I'll blame them, but wether thats fair or not.. No idea..
Suffice it to say, I'm getting a little irritated at the whole Google love of T-Mobile and them getting all the damn google dev phones.. I just want the AOSP Google software and cant get it because I live in the other 90% of the US where T-Mobile ISNT.
End rant. Screw Samsung.
