Samsung Soundbar with Sony TV remote

I have a Sony Bravia 55 inch X800e and a Samsung HW-M360 sound bar. Its connected via the optical audio cable. I have the tv setting to use the audio system instead of the tv speakers. I have adjusted the headphone/audio out to variable.

The sound bar works however I cannot control the volume with the Sony remote. Is this not possible or am I missing some setting?

You need to use the soundbar remote.

I have the same problem. The TV tells me it can control things that are connected by HDMI so i have that as well as the optical cable but the tv doesnt seem to see the soundbar
