Samsung TV, Blu-Ray player and theatre sound connection problems

I have a UE46F6670 TV, a BD-F8500m HDD combo and a HW-F450 sound bar plus Apple TV and I need help understanding the correct cabling solutions.

Don't get me wrong it's all working at the moment but there seems to be some functionality missing.

Is it possible to use just one remote for all operations on all three pieces ?

Is it possible to link all three so I can power on and off all at the same time ?

The BD player has a single HDMI output and is connected to HDMI 1 on the TV, the soundbar is connected from its HDMI OUT to HDMI 2 on the TV and Apple TV is connected to HDMI 3 on the TV. The Apple TV is also connected to the soundbar by optical cable.

There is a HDMI input on the soundbar marked as HDMI IN, but I'm not sure what that should be connected to ?

So no major problems but a feeling that's it's not as good as it could be !

Blue Ray player HDMI Out > TV HDMI 1 In
Apple TV HDMI Out > TV HDMI 2 In
TV Digital Audio Out (Optical) > Sound Bar Digital Optical In

What you have displayed on the TV will be played to the sound bar - so when you select HDMI 1 = Blue Ray, HDMI 2 = Apple TV, if you have a cable box, you would connect it to HDMI 3. HDMI carries digital audio from the blue ray and apple TV - the optical audio out delivers that signal to the sound bar.

If you want to combine the remotes there are a few choices but to keep in the general price range of your equipment check out Logitech. They should have a solution to allow one remote (or remote app) to operate everything. A macro will allow you to select your source and that will turn on all the components needed (and off as well when you are done}. Something like this maybe:
