Sanyo 30" Widescreen Walmart Special

Well I finally bit the bullet and bought the HT30744 Sanyo Widescreen
Walmart special. I have a question for anyone else that owns one. There are
at least 2 very slight vertical lines that run from top to bottom at the
very left edge of the screen. You can see them in some program material, but
I was watching some NBC HD show last night and in a dark room and with the
kind of greyish black background they had, the lines really stood out.
Anybody seen these bars on this TV, or did I get a bad one?

Its a Sanyo---its Bad!!!!

Take it back and buy one of the top selling sets---Sony, Toshiba or
Panasonic. Sanyo has always been low priced cheap junk

I have owned this same model TV since December 2004 and there are no lines
visible in the place described.
Take it back and replace it if it is a problem, otherwise it is a very
reliable and easy to use low priced HDTV. I just connected it last nite to
My Cox Cable box SA 3250HD thru the DVI to HDMI port on the TV and it is
even better than the component connection supported by Cox.

Wow! Dick really lived-up-to-his-name on that post. I'm sure the
'top-selling brands' NEVER have any problems.

Anywho, I've had my Sanyo since December and don't have any complaints..

Yes Dick sure does live up to his name.I Iike the set very much. Nice
picture. I was able to figure a bunch of stuff out on the very nicely laid
out remote without consulting the manual. I am in the broadcast industy and
this TV looks real good. Everything right down to the greyscale. It's real
nice. Especially the one year bumper to bumper warrentee. Oh one more thing
Dick. F--- off.

Have you tried degaussing it? We bought a Samsung HD and had Circuit City
deliver/install it. I noticed the fellow had a metal loop that he used
after setting up the set. He said that most sets sit in a warehouse for a
while and magnetic impulses cause CRTs to need degaussing occassionally.

Just a thought.

whooa, that's a great TV for the money.

I don't care how "cheap" it is, it already BLOWS AWAY the shitty
Toshiba (ORION) 30HF84 model that has a well documented history of
cheapness problems. Much lower in price and has tons more features
including built in tuners.

C'mon people, spill the beans, what's the problem with this model ?

Don't they still have a built in degausser that turns on when the set turns
on.

Everbody's questions. J, It does'nt appear to be a degauss probelm as the
colors are perfect. Maintinence engineer at work thinks it might be a defect
in the shadow mask of the tube. Sanyo supervisor I spoke with yesterday said
to bring it back and get another one. Gordon $562 at Walmart. We have about
12 Walmarts around town and I can't find one in stock to exchange. Cheap or
not the sanyo is a nice TV with a one year bumper to bumper warrentee.

Hey LD and everyone Thanks!. J nope it's not a degausing problem. Kind of
looks like a burn in. Gordon $562 at Walmart. I spoke with a Sanyo rep and
he sugested I just get another one. One nice TV it is. Even has an info pae
that tells you what format is comin into it, and has a signal strength meter
for tuning in Terrestrial ATSC. Pretty good tuner. I've just had this set
for 3 days and I'm liking it big time.
