Question Second monitor not displaying

I have a new ASUS computer with Windows 10. (Purchased Dec. 2018)
I have tried to hook up to projectors and TVs via HDMI cable (new) and it won’t send a display.
All drivers are up-to-date.
when I go into the display manager, it shows 2 screens but says it can’t detect. When I go into the device manager, the TV brand and such shows up under the audio devices, but only as “generic monitor” under monitors.

My old laptop works with everything on the same cable.

Yes. But nothing changes when you switch the display type.
