Seriously need help with microphone.

So I bought a pc of a friend. He did reset the pc and the pc has windows 10. Today i bought myself a monitor for my pc. This is the one.

Now when i want to go on skype and talk with my friend, i cant hear him and he cant hear me? Skype says that I down have a sound card detected. How do i fix this?

What are you trying to play the sound out of?
Try right clicking on the speaker icon in the task bar, then selecting "Recording Devices"
Now find the sound card you have your audio device plugged into, e.g. VIA HD Audio, or Realtek. I have a USB Microphone, the Rode NT USB, so that is what mine comes out of. It should say VIA or Realtek if your microphone is plugged into the back of your computer near the USB slots and Ethernet (Internet) plug.
Right click on your microphone and select: "Default Device", then do it again and instead selecting Default device, select "Default communication device".
Now go into skype, call someone, then click on the 5 lines of different lengths, the largest looks like an exlamation mark, next to the speech bubble (Top right), and under adjust microphone settings, ensure your microphone is selected from the dropdown menu.

I'm seriously confused on how to make this work. Ok so, i tried plugging in a pair of headphones into the speaker jack on my pc. After doing this, i was able to slightly hear my friend but not enough to understand him. And he couldnt hear me because i still had no microphone detected. So then next to the speaker jack is a microphone jack, i plugged in the headphones into there and then im able to select a microphone on skype. But then i cant hear anything.
