Aloha to you,

I need to set up ssid for my 5500 for t mobile (so that I can surf at T
mobile hotspots), how do I go about doing this? I don't see anywhere where I
can change the ssid (or perhaps, and probably closer to the truth), I don't
have the foggiest idea of what is going on.

Also, don't know if this means anything. When I go to iPAQ wireless and turn
on the WLAN, the icon turns orange, but there is no light in the upper left
hand corner of the unit. I have tried soft reseting, but it didn't help. So,
is my WLAN on or not with this conflicting signal, and would that have a
negative impact on my trying to set up my SSID for T-Mobile?

TIA

To turn on wireless go to "Start -> iPAQ Wireless" and tap the WLAN icon at the upper right of the
window. The icon will be GREEN when the 802.11b radio is turned on and the light at the upper left
of the iPAQ will blink orange until you connect to a wireless network, then it should blink green.
This is documented quite well in the Users Guide on page 9-1. Get the guide from HP at...

....or look on your companion CD...

To add/change the SSID, start the wireless radio as noted above and go to "Start -> Settings ->
Connections -> Connections -> Advanced -> Network Card -> Wireless -> Add New ..."
