Setting sony mini DV camera to PC mode to load onto computer

HELP - I have a Sony mini DV handycam - and a Mac computer - and a firewire chord connecting them - but when I click on the camera to "import" ... the built in camera clicks on like it's recording my face.... how do I "select" the mode on the camera to get it to download what's on the mini-DV onto the computer??

Importing to the camera would suggest you are adding something onto the camera, not sending something from the camera to the computer. That would be exporting.

Sounds to me like your camera is trying to import a video file and the Mac is feeding it your web cam video.

Use your software program to pull the video off the camera onto the Mac.
