Solved! Firewire Driver Compatability

I have a Sony 8 digital handicam with a firewire output.
However, Sony stopped making drivers for this camera after XP.
I have windows 7.
What I'd like to know is, if I put a firewire board on my system, is there anyway I can make the camera "talk" to the computer?
