setup initialization error

when i try to setup(click on setup icon) an application from a cd i get the following error message:

the c:\windows\temp\_istmp4dir\_ins5576._mp file appears to be corrupt. reinstall and then try again.".

i would appreciate any help on how to solve the problem.

i've tried cleaning out temp file and loading installation files to desk top and running them from safemode but i get same error message

what are you trying to install? and can you reformat your drive and reload your os?
