I planned to buy an entry level dslr. Ive found one deal that offer a d5300, kit lens and a 35mm prime.
Its shutter counts is at 4k. So is it safe to buy it?
4k shutter count is very very low. The life expectation of a shutter is over 100,000. So long as the seller is reputable and the offer is fair, should be a fine purchase.

Totally agree. 4K shutter count is only a few months of use tops.

Don't bother with shutter count (it's probably a rough estimate anyway, maybe even flat out lie), instead, find out why the seller is offering it and why it's so cheap. If they say it's damaged or you notice it's got unacceptable damage, you're better off just getting something from bh/adorama's used department
