SIM Card Affects RF???

I just saw the article below in a ZDNet AnchorDesk thread. My Samsung
SGH-N105 does still display the VoiceStream (exactly as I wrote it)
logo. How can getting a new SIM card affect RF capability. I say it
can't, i.e. NONSENSE! Do I need to be re-educated? Do I need a new
SIM card for ANY reason? I don't mind the "VoiceStream" logo at all
and see no reason to get a new SIM since the RF capability of this
neat little phone has remained constant over 2+ years (wish it were
better at home though).

so the same problem happens with Cingular, and other GSM based
services as well. I have found something that helps though. If you
have transferred your GSM card to a newer phone, or if your phone
still displays the VoiceStream logo when you turn it on, you really
need a new SIM card. The same goes if your phone is over a year old.
The new SIM card will improve your reception, and if you go a T-Mobile
store, they will do the upgrade for free, and you won't lose any of
your existing numbers/data on your old card, as they transfer that
data to the new card. I've also found that the smaller phones, such as
the Motorolla flip phones, don't perform as well as some of the larger
phones, like the larger Nokia and Samsung phones. Try one or both of
those things, and you should get at least a noticeable boost in signal
strength. Also, If you're more than five miles from a tower, you're
pretty much out of luck yet.

Just curious why you would ask SIM, GSM and VoiceStream questions in a
Verizon group since it has nothing to do with VoiceStream (now
T-Mobile) or GSM.
