Sim card-slot in Dell Latitude E6500 Doesnt work??

So we have these Dell Latitudes E6500 and have installed drivers accordingly.

However after inserting a sim card under the battery compartment, it doesnt seem to read. This is because i cannot dial to the sim carrier. (Digicel PNG)

Any ideas on what to check??

Are you 100% sure that the mobile wireless card is installed on the laptop?
Is the card enabled? There may be a hardware switch or button somewhere on the laptop you need to turn on.
If the card is installed and enabled, then you should have a software installed that can set up a connection.
