So what changed between a few months ago and now, that suddenly prompts Skype putting up ads? Were these men and women working for free, and then suddenly discovered that they should be paid?

This is great news. My company offers an alternative to skype and we are happy to see that they have come up with a new way to irritate users.

Guys, this is only a little static ad. What's the big deal about it? Heck, there's a little ad at the bottom of the main UI anyway. (right now, it's advertising paid skype calls, and it's static though it changes between a few ads every now and then) It's free, so get used to it. Now if it were animated or I were paying for it or it had audio... then I'd be pissed. (I heard someone saying elsewhere that Hulu Plus having ads is a dick move... and I agree.)

[citation][nom]cscott_it[/nom]I'm not sure why everyone is always so up in arms about things like this. Skype needs a way to generate a meaningful profit[/citation]Wait, businesses that have expenses need some kind of revenue model? Quick, everyone freak out and fire up webriot.exe!

[citation][nom]MrSiko[/nom]This guy is smooooth So that's why I haven't been generating enough fun recently, not enough ads Darn you AdBlock, or rather FunBlock(tm).[/citation]
