So how do you connect a DVD player with component connectors to a hdmi tv?

Have a Sony DVD with component connectors and a tv with an HDMI connection only. How can you make them work together?

Ah, the old days of component. I am sure you can get some sort of adapter. Try Parts Express, they sell tons of stuff like that.

TBH, if your DVD player doesn't support scart (even the most modern of TVs still support a scart socket) or HDMI then you're better off replacing it than trying to mess around with converters.

Component is an analog signal, hdmi is a digital signal and typical need digital rights management. Don't wast money for an adapter that will not work or give you bad quality. Spend the money for a cheer new DVD player with hdmi out instead.

I agree, you might as well buy a new one. An adapter may end up costing just as much and won't work as well.
